Monthly Client Feature: Gallagher Residence Before and After
In this month's client feature, we are going to be taking an in-depth look at the transformation of a Poggenpohl kitchen from 1983 that was recently remodeled in 2019. We were also fortunate to have the current home owner Trisha Gallagher sit down with and us answer a few question regarding the 36 year kitchen upgrade.
When our client Trisha was asked what initially sparked their interest in continuing to use Poggenpohl for their kitchen redesign, they answered with the following; "My first job was in a furniture store that was nearby a Poggenpohl display showroom. So I became familiar with the brand after they piqued my interest. I saw the Poggenpohl kitchen pre installed once I moved in and I was in love with the cabinet space with the white coloring to go with the tiling. When it finally came time for the renovation, we decided on going with warmer colors to liven up the kitchen. Then we went to Florida Designer Cabinetry to repair and redesign after we sustained some water damage. We also wanted to match all the cabinets with the back wall. We were very impressed with the presentation they had provided."
We also asked if there was any particular stand outs during the renovation process that impressed you when dealing with Florida Designer Cabinetry. She kindly shared that, "The experience and knowledge they were able to provide for every detail, including lighting, knobs, and even door hardware. We also loved the presentation of an entertainment center display to go along with kitchen with a dark walnut background and metal cabinets. Also it was encouraging to us that FDC Showed familiarity with working in the home redesign industry in the home state we're from in Minnesota. We were thrilled with Patricia's designer skills when showing us her redesign. We were quite pleased with the work done with my contractor to design the backwall with the backsplash and floating shelves. Despite the process taking a lengthy amount of time, we were showed constant reassurance. Also not to mention the amazement by the number of Houzz awards FDC was granted.
When asked about if there was any specific inspiration for her decision on the renovation or was it more from the designer, she humbly admitted that it "was mostly derived from our very own Patricia and Tony's minds. Along with working alongside the contractor I had employed, they had a lot to work with once we had the cabinet space removed. And decidedly we agreed to go with a more modern approach.
A fun fact about the Gallagher client home is that the original Poggenpohl kitchen as seen above, was one of the first Poggenpohl kitchens installed in the U.S. So naturally we had to ask what details Trisha was willing or able to share about the previous homeowner. Unfortunately she didn't have too many details to share aside from knowing that it was the first Poggenpohl home in the south east U.S. Also that the original home owner had apparently owned an international shipping company that originally resided from Denmark.
We hope you enjoyed this month's Client Feature and seeing how much of a drastic evolution a Poggenpohl kitchen from the 1980's can be modernized 30 plus years later.
